Fitness Apps – Fitness tools series

What fitness app should you use?

The correct answer is the one you like that works for you.

The good news is that there is a lot of choice and variety out there, and most of them will give you a free trial.

There are also some free options.

The only true way to know is to try them yourself. Many websites will tell you their top 10 fitness apps of 2022. But only you will know what is right for you.

Peloton for example is highly rated but has too much of the high energy gym vibe for my liking.

For now, I have settled on Alo moves. It has a yoga and pilates base with plenty of fitness and strength-building videos.

It has good filtering options, including settings for intensity and difficulty level. Plenty of short length videos and the energy of the instructors matches my own. They don’t make me feel bad for not being able to reach a specific position; they give me options. I need options. Remember, don’t push yourself if a certain movement or action feels wrong for your body at this time. It connects easily to my smart TV also. If you want to give it a go – click here

So far, I have also tried Yoga International and Adidas Training: Home Workout.

Yoga International was OK. Practitioners of mainly yoga and it’s different styles upload their own produced content. I didn’t really find what I wanted from the trainers there. If you love yoga, you may find it works for you, but I was left feeling unsure about most of the routines and how they would leave me feeling the next day. Yoga International has a pretty disastrous Smart TV app (just don’t use it, cast instead).

With Adidas, I was left couch ridden for a week – no joke – from what seemed like a simple set of workouts in their beginner range. In hindsight, I should have stopped halfway through but my commitment was strong. Yep, not right for me at all.

Some other programs I am keen to take a look at are:

Freeletics

Asana Rebel – Yoga based I believe

HOV – Heart of Vinyasa

Verv – though there is no free trial, not keen on that.

Sworkit Fitness – may be promising

I encourage you to keep things fresh and try different apps occassionally. I certainly will.
